Name a book or author that you truly wanted to love but left you disappointed. (And, of course, explain why.)
Elizabeth Kostova’s The Historian comes to mind in answer to this week’s question. I’ve read the book twice in hopes of changing the initial reaction I had towards the book but my reaction remained as lukewarm as before. I loved the historical element to the novel, of the characters going to a number of different Eastern European cities but the narrative was sometimes boring and I felt that the final hundred pages of the novel seemed a little too out there in context with the rest of the novel. Nonetheless I have kept the book because I did enjoy the adventurous and historical aspect of the novel. Maybe I’ll try reading it again sometime; maybe third time’s the charm, lol =)

I had never heard of this one so I looked it up, it looks very interesting I might have to give it a try just to say I did!
